Shannon Bares currently serves as Fundraising Co-Chair and Banquet Co-Chair on the Youngsville Chamber Board of Directors. Shannon was born and raised in Youngsville, LA. She has been married to David Bares for 29 years. They have four children – Jake: 26; Josh: 24; Jonah: 21; Bailey – 19. Shannon joined the Youngsville Chamber in 2005 and served as Secretary, Vice President, and served 2 terms as President. She also joined the Youngsville Lions Club in 2009, and has served as Secretary since that time. Shannon also serves on the Louisiana Lions Camp Board of Directors as a board member at large and serves as the Youngsville Lions Club Eyesight Coordinator, the contact person for those individuals who need eye exams and eye glasses provided by the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation at no charge. She serves as President of the Krewe des Amis, a local Mardi Gras Krewe established in 1981. She is a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and serves as Commentator, Lector and Eucharistic Minister. At the December 2022 Youngsville City Council Meeting, Shannon was awarded Key to the City for her service as an interim Youngsville City Councilmember and her many years of service and volunteerism in the community.
David and Shannon have owned Farmer’s Drugs and Gifts for 14 years, after purchasing the business in 2005 from Merrill David. They are the third owners, and the Pharmacy has been in business since 1933. In 2010, the pharmacy was moved from Church Street, to its present location on Lafayette Street, which was done to provide better service to their customers, such as more parking spaces and a drive through window. They also provide immunization services, compound medications, and delivery in Youngsville. Shannon is also a graduation of Leadership Youngsville Class I.
